How much Vit C do piggies actually need in their dry food?

Was looking today in Wilkos and oddly enough Wilkos own Guinea pig nuggets have the same levels of Vit C as their own brand rabbit nuggets do (800mg/kg) 🤔 (I have rabbits as well hence looking at both foods)

But Harrington’s guinea nuggets (which we use currently) are only 300mg/kg.

That’s quite a difference. Are the Vit c levels anything to be concerned about? Should I switch from Harrington’s to a nugget with more Vit c?

Also would anyone know if the Wilkos rabbit nuggets would cause any harm to rabbits with the Vit c content long term? As most rabbit nuggets don’t contain any added Vit c as rabbits can make it themselves. Worrying now that rabbits are having too much and the piggies not enough? Argh!

Any over the top vit c gets peed out , i concentrate more on them getting their daily vit c from their vegetables. Red pepper, green pepper, parsnip and corriander does the job. Never had a pig with a vit c deficiency in the 6 years i have been keeping gpigs. A good nugget to feed is science selective grainless, but i do feed harringtons too when mine will eat it. They tend to go off science selective then like harringtons

That’s reassuring. They mostly get leafy greens with pepper/celery, carrots and spinach and herbs occasionally. Also give handful of readigrass daily.

From 300 - 800mg seems like a big jump though? And 800mg in a rabbit food? 🤔 Would rabbits pee out any excess to? As 800mg for a creature that makes its own Vit C seems highly excessive?
