Just bought some Vitakraft carrot slims for my guinea pigs, didn't realise they were for rabbits. Does anyone know whether they are suitable for my pigs?
I have seen these before but never given them to my pigs as I don't tend to give them this type of treat as they are usually full of ingredients that I try not to feed as they are all on the IC diet as Amy had bladder issues. I would rather give them a special hay as a treat.
Its says on the Pets at Home website that they are suitable for rabbits and all small animals including guinea pigs but I am struggling to find an ingredients list.
This is what it says on the pack. I also try and feed a low calcium diet as we have had a lot of white pee marks so if they are high in calcium or not suitable I won't give them to my pigs but I don't really understand ingredients
Thank you. I would be concerned about the artificial colours to be honest but I try to feed a very natural diet to my pigs so may not be the best person to advise. I can't see any calcium percentage but if you are worried about what you feed because of white marks I personally wouldn't feed them.
Okay @helen105281 thanks very much. I've decided not to feed them to my pigs. To be honest, I was in the pet shop today and bought treats for my dog and I didn't want my pigs being left out and saw these. I had heard people praising the Vitakraft pellets so I just assumed it was a good brand and these would be okay
Vitakraft is like most companies, they make good and bad products. The Vitakraft pellet that I recommend a lot on here is the grainless one but I am not sure about the others they make. I will be including them in my pellet guide though.
