So I'm curious about the best ways to provide vitamin c, and how to ensure my piggies are getting enough.

I read that a pig is supposed to get 10-30 mg/day. A quarter of a bell pepper has about 24 mg, so I've been feeding two 1/8 slices (one morning and night) but he doesn't usually finish them, eating 1/3-2/3 of a slice. I also feed oxbow garden select pellets, which has 250 mg/kg of "stabilized vitamin c." He seems to enjoy these and eats a small amount each day.

He also of course gets hay and other veggies daily, and I've read through the (extremely helpful!) veggie rating guide.

Should I worry about dosing him with extra via syringe or another method? Or can I provide multiple sources and trust him to eat enough? Our boar is young and we've only had him a few days, so I'd like to get him into a routine sooner rather than later!

Also, before anyone says it - yes, I know he needs a friend, we're adopting this weekend/early next week. ;)

When I'm concerned about an piggy not getting enough vitamin C I buy the oxbow vitamin c tablets which my lot are happy to eat. I don't worry too much they aren't getting exactly this and that. They get peppers every day and occasionally some orange slices too.
