Hello everybody!

Before we picked up Edna, my new guinea pig whom I love and adore already, the previous owner used Vitamin C drops in her water. After my research, I found this isn't the best source of vitamin c for guinea pigs, as the water actually dissolves the vitamin c solution, making the drops ineffective and the water taste "nasty" to them.

I was wondering: what would be a good alternative I can give to Edna? I've heard tablets could work, but I'm unaware of any brands or where to get them.

Also, I know their daily greens should give them vitamin c, but are there any particular greens that are richer in vitamin c than others that are worth feeding her?

[Also, as a general food question now that I'm thinking about it, does anyone know of any good pellet brands other than Oxbow that have worked efficiently? The previous owner gave us some pellets in a bin without giving the name of the brand, and I want to make sure I'm giving her good quality food.]

Thank you guys in advance!

:P:P:P :mal:

Most vegetables contain a lot of vitamin c but I think red pepper contains the most. As for the pellets, Burgess excel are a good brand but I think that you can only get them if you are in the UK

I feed curly kale as that contains a lot of vit c. The pellets I use are science selective which my piggies love.

she will get all the vitamin c she needs if you feed a balanced diet - mainly hay/grass, 1x cup mixed veggies per day (mainly leafy greens), and a small amount of guinea pig pellets which have vitamin c added (around 1/8 cup per day, a bit more if she is very young)

oxbow do a vitamin c tablet. i use them during times of illness when they need extra, so you could keep some of those in just incase, but with a varied diet, she should get all she needs :)
