I've been doing some research for Linney's recurrent nosebleeds (she has now had about three, one a week for three weeks, poor girl!) One thing I keep reading is that scurvy can be a potential cause and to supplement vitamin C. I really doubt this is her problem, as she eats a fortified pellet and has no other symptoms, but I figured it couldn't hurt to supplement her vitamin C. Oxbow makes a vitamin C pellet- is that a good one? I've always heard not to put the drops in the water, as they may not drink the water, but I'm kind of unsure how to get a guinea pig to take a tablet (unless they taste good enough to eat voluntarily.) Any tips?

I give mine vitamin c tablets every morning by crushing a tablet and putting it on a slice of cucumber. You may like to try that.

Mine have the Oxbow daily c tablets and take them voluntarily from my hand so I think they do taste nice.

She is not keen on eating them from my hand, but will eat at least a portion if I crush it to powder and sprinkle it on veggies. Again, I doubt her issue is vitamin C, but it can't hurt.

Sorry to butt in but should we all give guineas vit c tablets.I have not given mine any :( i only gave cousin Amelia some human ones when we first got her.

No you do not have to. I just like to.

I agree with above - vit C tablets are not necessary if your guinea pigs are in good health and eating a diet which includes vit c rich foods. I read somewhere that vitamin C requirements increase when a guinea pig is ill so I have a supply of Oxbow vitamin C tablets as a precaution. My guinea pigs will take them stright from my hand - like treats.

I may buy some in just in case. Where is the best place to get them from?

I've only seen the Oxbow ones online. I get mine from Amazon.
