I was rentals reading a blog about piggles and the blogger stated that they fed their pigs vitamin c tablets every day. Does anyone hear give vitamin c tablets or powder to there pigs as a supplement to there daily food, hay and veg?

Some people do and some don't and only give extra vitamin C to ill piggies. If you don't want to give extra vitamin C, it is important that you feed at least one veg high in vitamin C each morning. When giving extra vitamin C, you need to take into account any veg and enriched pellets to avoid long term overdosing.
Please do not overdo the amount you feed extra as that can had negative long term problems - including perversely scurvy for piggies that were fed too much vitamin C at a young age!

I have always fed my guinea pigs vitamin c tablets and wonder if this could be why I have never had to deal with a u.r.i. It was my vet who suggested the vitamin c tablets.

The only piggy of mine with URI issues has come here with pre-existing lung disease due to a not properly cured URI earlier in life... so it can work both ways. ;)

The critical issue is to neither give too little vitamin C or too much vitamin C in whatever form.
