I wouldn't.... you can buy vitamin C drops to put in their bottles. At least you would know the right amount then O0

I wouldn't add anything to their water - orange juice or drops. All either of these will do is encourage the growth of bacteria in the bottle.

Vitamin C should be covered in a balanced diet of good quality pellets and veggies.

I would buy vit C drops too. To much vit C is just as bad as to little, it will damage the kidneys.

Only the drops that can be given straight to the pig, not the ones that go in water. Vitamin C doesn't last long (a couple of hours) on contact with light and all the vitamins and minerals in the drops encourage the growth of bacteria in the water.

You are better off providing it through the diet. I give a piece of green celery per pig every other day and make it up on the days I don't give it with other foods.

I got my drops from the vet....he advised that the bottle should just be kept half full and changed every day O0

What a clever vet, knowing that a water bottle should be changed everday!.The worst thing you can do is put meds or supplements in water bottles/bowls.You have no idea how much the piggy has had.Always give meds/supplements by syringe, straight into the mouth.,that way you know what they have had,and in the case of meds,at what time.

Only poorly pigs or piggies unable to eat because of dentals etc, need extra vitimins.Healthy pigs should get all they need from diet.

Quote from Peter Gurney....

"For increased nutrition, you can also purchase vitamin drops which can be added to your pet's water. Be sure to change the water regularly, to maintain freshness".

Conflicting information then :(

Peter was a friend of mine and I do know he stopped putting vitimins in the drinking water a few years ago.Vetinary treatment is changing all the time as we gain knowledge, and Peter was the first to admit that treatments and drugs have to be constantly updated.A lot of Peters info is now out of date.I myself am always looking for better methods and trying alternatives.Peters research was second to none and the basics can still be trusted, and nothing he advised could do any harm.

I think instead of saying, one person says this and someone else says that, you have to know your own pig and do or use what your instinct tells you.Just remember that all info on the internet will quickly be updated.Having said that,a lot of the older meds are still the best.Ivermectin for instance has been used for years as a weapon against mites, and it is still the only efficient way to get rid of them.

I*f you think of it logically, vitimins lor meds in water are dangerous. You have no idea how much the piggy has drunk.,some pigs are big drinkers some hardly drink anything. In the case of meds they need to be given at the same time each day.Anything in drinking water is too hit and miss to be safe.

Peter also stopped using vits routinely quite a long time ago,.
