When I was at pets at home I saw they had vit c solution you add to water. So I was wondering do most people use supplements or are there foods with a high enough vit c content to meet piggy needs.

There are foods that meets the requirements (veg, pellets and hay); see our diet guide with a sample diet. For additives in water, please read our drinking guide.
You can find them in our new owners' guide collection, which you may find very helpful: New Owners' Problem Solver And Information Collection

If possible, please consider rehoming from one of our recommended rescues instead of buying shop piggies that have never had human interaction, are not quarantined, personality matched and not necessarily properly sexed/not pregnant. You will get all that from a good rescue - total peace of mind is well worth the extra effort in my experience! You will also rehome guinea pigs that are suited to a new owners' home and that have been handled before.

Vit C in water degrades very quickly. Piggies should be fed a diet that includes veggies rich in VitC. Supplements shouldn’t be necessary if the piggy has a healthy diet unless the Piggy is poorly.

Don’t put Vitamin C in water. Your pigs might not like it and stop drinking water. I use Oxbow Vitamin C supplement. It’s a tablet to give to your pigs daily.
