6 months ago I was giving my guys there morning feed and I noticed Whisper had developed a gait in his walk , it was not there the night before . He was waddling like a turtle , on examining him I found an abnormal looking belly button (see photos )

I took him to my vet who x-rayed , and could find no reason for the gait , he palpated and there were no pain indicators, vet thought belly button was a birth defect and nothing to worry about .

Not being happy with the explanation , I took him to see 2 more vets, and after scans and x-rays , and even a 4 week Corse of acupuncture , nothing had changed .

Whisper is active , eats well happy and lives with his brother and I was going to leave well enough alone ,

but last week I was introduced to a long standing piggy slave , a friend of a friend , anyway we talked on the phone about piggy’s for over an hour (like you do )

And it turns out she has a pig with identical symptoms , so it is not just a one off as vets have told me .

History Whisper is 1 of 5 siblings to three independent births from the same parents , Whisper was 1 of 2 boars in the first litter .

They were kept in less than ideal conditions prior to and after the birth , so I was thinking possibly a condition related to mal nourishment , though the other 4 siblings are in perfect health . and all 3 vets I have seen have said his bones are perfectly formed .

Whisper lives in a totally piggy friendly environment , so falls ect can be totally ruled out.
He is and has not been bullied in any way by his brother .

So we have a pig that waddles like a turtle , has a strange belly button , is happy and not in any pain . And there is another pig that lives 100 miles away that has identical problems .

Help any one , I would love to know more about this condition

Sorry for the long postmalletheadmalletheadmallethead

Can you please take another photo a little bit further away so we can get a better idea of exactly where the problem is, thanks?

Very interesting, and quite puzzling! I hope someone is able to shed some light on this for you.
