Well my piggies normally have Burgess excel. But I run out so I bought them a bag of wagg muesli. They love it. How many of you feed it to your piggies? I won't feed it all the time but will do for a change every now and again. Who uses this permently?

haha, i've just been looking through the forum for reviews for this as mine are currently on burgess oregano but it's too expensive and getting Wagg crunch 15kg for £14 compared to 4kg for £10 it seemed a lot better.
I put the pigs on it before the nuggets and they also loved it. I know it's the favourite muesli on the forum and i'm strongly considering going back on to it.
(With the oregano nuggets it makes me think they need cleaning if they leave some food as it looks like their poo only smaller lol)

I used this when I first got mine, before I realised they even made pellets (thinking back from when I had them as a girl). Mine wasted so much of it through selective feeding I've refused to feed muesli any more. I have fed the Wagg pellets before too and they went down quite well. Their favourite so far is Excel Blackcurrant and Oregano.

i've been using wagg guinea crunch for about 4 years now and mine are still loving it

you can't go too far wrong at the price either. it's been a godsend with all the piggies i've had over the years too!

i've always been quite mean with it though, if they've not finished what is in their bowls, they don't get any more
i'm a yorkshire woman you know, selective feeding injures my wallet and it shall not be allowed! :)):))

they get about 50 grammes a day with me (i think, i have a 60ml cup which i use to measure out the food rather roughly per piggy)
slightly more in winter for the extra calories to generate heat.
veggies every few days
and adlib hay

never had any illnesses or parasites (until the current fungal problem) in all that time :)

I do use a small amount of it mixed in with the Wagg pellets. They get a tiny amount though & I don't like the yellow big corn bits it, daisy got a piece stuck in her mouth the other day & luckily I was here to help her get rid of it :... I think it's because those pieces aren't flat, so now I break them up smaller if I spot one in the bowl. I don't give them a lot of dried food anyway, twice a day a tablespoon each in total, they get more hay & fresh food which I feel is more natural for them. They never have any dried food left ever so no selective feeding here :))

I do have a bag of Burgess Blackcurrant & Oregano for them to try next though.

My boys love their guinea pig crunch, they got rather fat on it :red they now have a tiny amount of it on a morning which they wolf down and then they lick the dish :))

I tried the Wagg crunch once and they didn't really like it-there was a lot of waste plus I dont really like the look of the yellow bits. Mine have Burgess nuggets and they love them, plus there's no waste. They don't eat a lot of them so I don't have to worry they are getting fat on their dried food.

I used Waggs for quite a while, getting separate bags for both buns and pigs. I have since found a universal food that is suitable for both, its made by Youngs and costs £15 for 20kgs. Since starting them on it, I'm getting clean bowls every morning. As soon as I put the bowls in, they all pounce on it.

This is the first time I've used it. And the first time my boys have had muesli type food as they always have Burgess nuggets. but I will definitely be getting them this again. I buy Burgess in a 10kg bag. lasts longer and works out cheaper in the long run. But I feel it's a nice change for them for a little bit. must get boring eating the same food all the time

I use it!
I moved my little ones over from Gerty Gpig after reading the forums on here. My two love it and they clear their bowls :)

Am I wrong in thinking that you shouldn't keep changing their dry food?
I thought when changing food you had to do it gradually?

I would like to give mine a change sometimes but thought it wasn't best.

I stick to the Harringtons Optimum pellets (Wagg) but always keep a supply of the muesli just as a change but not as their main dry food.
I just pop a small bowl in for them occasionally but they do prefer the pellets to muesli.

I feed mine on guinea-pig nuggets. I'm worried about them having muesli incase they get too picky and only eat their favourite bits!

I have two pairs of pigs, the boys get wagg optimum the girls get wagg muesli :D the boys sometimes get a sprinkle of muesli though.

My buns get muesli mixed with herbs and different grasses as their food

Anyone know if this is right or wrong?

Anyone know if this is right or wrong?

I don't know whether it's right or wrong but I have done it a few times. Fuzzy and Tyler used to prefer the wagg musili then one time I couldn't get it so I gave them burgess excell which is what flinn and winston have and they were fine about it, never used to touch it you see so it was like, well touch tonight boys but they've decided they like it now rolleyes
And once I couldn't get burgess so I bought science selective, no troubles my end, they seemed to like the change.

Not one of my boys is fussy they are all Gannetts. I changed from P@h nuggets to Burgess excel with no problems. and this is a small bag for a change. And so far so good. Nothing seems to upset my piggies stomache. but every guinea pig is different. it might not be a good idea to change for some , but ok for others x

I think you have to be careful when you change over food to stop any upset tummy's.

My four used to always have Wagg crunch, I have tried mixing some Burgess Blackcurrant and oregano into in the past and they didn't touch it, the same happened with the science selective- a few sniffs but they didn't eat it. Now I have completely changed them over to Harringtons pellets and they all love it, they have two small bowls between four of them and they wolf it down. I made the mistake when I was gradually changing over to put the museli in one bowl and the Haringtons in another, my old girl Rosie went straight over to the pellets and began wolfing them down and had a little bit of an upset tummy (soft poops) but other than that she was fine. x
