ive decided this week to gradually switch my piggles over to wagg optimum pellet food. they turn their nose up at P@H pellets, prefering the wagg guinea pig crunch.

had a bit of a shock when i opened the bag, expecting the pellets to look similar to the P@H ones, but they are tiny! like little grains.

anyhoo, does anyone use wagg optimum and recommend it.

also how long should i take to gradually wean them onto it?

at the minute they eat the wagg guinea pig crunch but I'm concerned about all the "bad bits" they eat ::)

I used them for Flash,Pumpkin and Blaze when they were born as they could not get thier tiny mouths round excell pellets ;) They loved them but my others did not go mad for them so I kept them on excell.
I had trouble getting it too.

I like the P@H pellets and the piggies dont seem to mind them either. They are too expensive for me to use at the moment though, I need to reduce my numbers before changing foods.

i can get hold of it easy as they sell it at asda, so i pick it up when i go shopping. so far they are eating some of it, but still wolfing down the wagg crunch (ive been mixing it together, to gradually convert them"

my piggers turn their noses up at the P@H stuff ::)

I looked for months in three Asda stores last year I gave up in the end. I found some in a little pet shop near me but decided to leave them on excell as they was not to bothered about the optimum. :) Think I will check in our local asda next time I am in there I know they do the one for rabbits.

ah i see. our local asda is a really big megastore type one so that could be why ours has it?

I'm not sure if my piggies are gonna take to this food :( when i mix it in with their old food, they just eat the old food and leave the wagg, and wheek for veggies everytime i go in the kitchen :(

i could try them on excell if all else fails, but i can only get that from the store i buy my megazor from, and i dont really go there often

I have just got a sack of this and mixed some with the suppa guinea in all the dishes today, I am really struggling to get a lot of mine to eat the excell pellets so i didnt expect them to eat this.
I have just been out to do the final check and almost every hutch has cleared the wagg optimum and left the mix ::)

If you have a jollies pet store near you they stock it in big sacks and smaller bags. My lot are on P@H nuggets at the mo but they are wising up to it and I may have to mix in some wagg mix ::) ::) Pumpkin, Flash and Blaze clear the bowls of nuggets every time and have always preferred them to any of the mixes I have tried them on.

Wagg Optimum is great because of the pellet size and shape, its easy for piggies to pick up :)

I'm back onto wagg crunch now :(

bob absolutely refused to eat the optimum, to the point where he was losing weight :-\

i am mixing it in with merlins food at the min, he seems to like it just as much as the crunch, so its not going to waste
