Waggs seem to have changed their recipe. My pigs used to be really keen on it, but I just got a new bag, and they sniff it and then look at me, as if to say "***'s this then, where's the good stuff?"

Anyone else having problems with it? It is a different shape too; it's longer and thinner.

i noticed it was longer and thinner. but luckily my piggies seem to like it more. why change a good thing though mallethead

and if I'm right there is no warning that its a new recipe is there?

No there isn't - it even has the same picture of the old pellets on the front! It's definitely different though; the top ingredient was 'wheatfeed', and it's now 'sunflower ext'.

I brought a bag yesterday and felt the food inside was more like small pellets, but mine havent tried any wagg before so will be interesting to see if they take to it at all (as they hated burgess), or if this bag gets donated to the rescue as well rolleyes:))

just wanted to ask if anyone has an old bag of this and can reply with the analytical constitutions please? so i can compare with the new stuff. thanks

Mine have this and I noticed the pellets are smaller and thinner - they still love it though despite my reservations. You think 'oh no, have food they all like and manufacturers go and change it' but I've not had an issue.
At least with the smaller pellets, I can differentiate them from poops now ;)

well one group love them the other group wont touch them so i dont know if they have changed the recipe or not.

I've just emailed them and asked if the recipe has been changed. I will post up their reply.

Ditto, lets see what they have to say, the Crunch has changed too and I've asked them about that aswell.

I got a reply

Dear Natalie

Thank you for your enquiry and I apologise if you were concerned by the different shape pellets in your Optimum Guinea Pig food. This is something that we are aware of. We made a batch of this food on a different line to normal and the extruder (machine that cooks and forms the food) has slightly different settings to the usual one that we use and this resulted in a shape variation. We have returned to the original extruder for subsequent batches and do not intend to use the alternative extruder again. The food contains the same ingredients and your guinea pigs should not notice any difference.

Any future purchases that you make are likely to look the same as your previous bags. I hope this explains, but if you do need any further information, please let me know.

Kind regards
