I'm sorry if this thread in the very wrong section, it was hard to choose. This is definitely health, mental health, but its related to bereavement and time frame.

I once again find myself in this situation where I have a lonely pig. Benny is soon six months and a immature little boy. He's not totally comfy with us hoomans yet, not on the level where I feel we can be an okay complement while waiting for a friend for a longer time. He grieves "daddydude" Harry very hard (so do I). He eats, and today he shouted a bit at me. He also sniffed my fingers and came to get some grass. He is a very careful little boy and Harry was his mentor.

I decided to go for a baby. Not only because its a easy bonding. I know the hard times comes later, the pretty teens where Ben is now. But Benny is a very playful little boy. He loves to run around and play peek-a-bo, hide and seek and you're it like a little kitten. I think he would love to play with a little brother!

Now. The very hard question. As long as Benny eats and show interest in his surroundings, we can say he can cope with the grieving right? He's not home alone for many hours a day, actually it tends to be someone at home doing sounds all 24/7.
I said I dont care about the pigs looks and was very happy when Bens breeder told me she had three coronet boys ready to move on Monday. Then she told me that if I can wait a week, she has two Peruvians ready to move.

So, you with more experience about this, what do you think? The coronets has the same mama as Ben and thats very sweet. But Harry woke up a big love for Peruvians in me. In so many ways he was the textbook of a typical Peruvian personality. But is two weeks a very long time for little Benny Banana to be alone?

I trust the breeder to choose the best match for Bennys personality. She knew him as a very little baby and did a great work choosing Benny for Harry after I described Harrys personality. Thats the most important for me, and if Benny wanted a little horse tomorrow I would give him that.

We do our best to keep Bennys routines as normal and at somewhat the same times. He really appreciate the cuddle time at nights, where he falls asleep inside my sweater. I'm very sure he feels lonely.

Hi

As long as Benny is OK in himself, you can wait.

The last chapter in our Singles guide can help you spot behaviours when Benny is transferring his social needs onto you. It's not necessarily in a way that you'd expect: Single Guinea Pigs - Challenges and Responsibilities

Great that you are getting another Peruvian 😘🐾🥰

How exciting for Benny to have a new friend! I would say go with whichever the breeder thinks matches Benny’s personality best ☺️

As wise as always ☺️ your guides are so good to read! I dont know Benny as well as I knew Harry or my other boys yet, so its great to get some clues!

That's a relaxed photo of Benny. I hope he's ok on his own for a bit.

He's a teenager after all...

Ah how lovely that you can decide Benny’s friend soon 🥰

I was thinking this:

If Harry in many ways was a true Peruvian, Bennys is THE Coronet. And his little crown looks hysterical fun! The only thing I dont adore is his fur. He has to comb his hair everyday but give me a fight about it, if I dont brush it very well he gets shitlocks. When I win the fight he is soooo pretty!

It's a tough decision. I would probably go for the first possible companion but it's more a question of character. It's great that your breeder is good at matching personalities.
I have a very sweet abby on the hook too. Its raining babies! He can move in on Friday, and I love the famous Abbytude. I think Ben would need some of that. But, Bennys breeder did such a great job matching the last time. And her pigs are very pretty - if you ask Benny especially!
