As a rescue I often get asked about types of hutches and homes for piggies. On my website I would like to illustrate the different homes and setups that people keep their guinea pigs in.

I know some forum users have fantastic setups and if you are happy for me to display your pics on my website I would love to hear from you, you can email me your pics.

I'm really looking for things like c & c grid homes, petshop bought hutches that have been modified, homemade hutches that are of a good size (At least 4 x 2), open access shed setups, garden/shed runs - well you know the kind of thing O0 Anything that doesn't look ready made!

I just wanted to demonstrate what people have achieved with a little bit of effort and some imagination. If your pigs are in the pigture all the better! Please no shavings though ;)

That is my current setup, a 3x3 C&C Cage with an L shaped top floor.

I have had different setups in the past:

(built out of a GORM shelving unit from IKEA with perspex at the front)

with added run for floortime whenever they wanted

a small 3x2 Cage

which I then extended to a 5x2 Cage

Hope that helps :)

Hi Louise,

Feel free to use any of my pics. :)

I set this C&C up for the winter for Pudsey and Eccles they like to run and popcorn so the more room for them to do this the better. I used Laminate to line the cage and it worked for us. Size is 4.5x2.5

These cages where in my shed 3.5x2.5 housed on megazorb.

Pigs indoors in a C&C (hadn't put any bedding down at this point)

and an idea of 2ft depth of a hutch (kind of visually explains how deep it needs to be...?)

Free range in the hallway. This was when the dogs & cat were out of the house for 2 days, and all these pigs were 'litter trained' in so much as they only pooped and peed under the table, where I put lots of hay and newspaper

btw the blurred bits of colour are pigs popcorning ;D

Mine is set up in the shed, second level is a recent addition, still need to tidy up those wire ties.

Hospital cage used indoors for poorly pigs, when they piggies use this they have access to the kitchen floor as well.

Think this cage is just short of four foot

Those are all brilliant, thank you all so much. Just hoping I can work out how to put them all on my site. It's lovely to see the piggies in their homes - Starla, I'm sure I recognise one little handsome fella! ;)

I've made a start, hope everyone is ok about me putting their forum user name under the photos? If you would prefer something else or nothing let me know?

I won't be able to include every photo but have some great examples so far. Keep them coming. AND THANKS - hopefully it should give people ideas and helps them to think "outside the box" !

Here is one of my piggy castle. C & C cages on an MDF base. This has castor wheels so can be moved for cleaning. Has a 5 x 2 grid second level which is temporarily split down the middle until Georgie is castrated & can go in with the girls :) Will email this and some others to you Summerleaze

Amazing houses. What lucky piggies. :D I'd love to have a C&C set-up, but not v practical seeing as I have cats! :o

Can people answer me this: do guineas prefer a home that is full of hidey holes/tubes etc to one that has lots of open space? Thanks.
