I made a c&c cage but I have to keep my females separate for awhile. One has loose stool. I thought it would be nice to give the males a little more room for a few weeks until they go back to my daughter's school (we have them for the summer). The females were in the cage for about 30 mins. I cleaned it with disinfecting wipes (a week ago) and took out the fleece and washed it. Will the males still smell the females? They had something that one of the females had before (oops!) and they freaked out. I think they were looking to mate with her. Also what is the best way to get the female smell out of fleece and towels?

I imagine that washing the fleece and towels on a 60 degree wash (powder and vinegar only) would remove the smells. Maybe line drying to be sure.

:D Some people use white vinegar in the wash to remove smells. If you have a steam cleaner, you could use that to clean the toys, and furniture in the cage.

I always wash with vinegar and a light detergent. I just moved them. The boys are popcorning. I think they are happy. :) No girly smell.

It's a detergent for sportswear that has an antibacterial in to get rid of odours from sweat etc.Don't know if USA have an equivalent but you could try googling sports wear detergent.

I was going to try halo! At the minute I use a sensitive one with no smell, but like the idea of antibacterial. What degree do you wash your fleece at? X

the halo said it is effective from 30 degrees. I tend to do it on 40. Without the halo was doing it on 60 so works out cheaper to wash as I have a cold fill washer

Oops I've only been washing my fleece on 40! I assume therefore it's ok at higher temperatures and won't wreck it? X
