I left my boys out a little while ago for some floor time, as they seemed a bit bored after coming in from their run.

I checked, as usual, to make sure the floor was clear.

I sat in the door way and watched them run about and they both picked at the carpet, which they normally do.

However, I caught sight of Arnold...Chowing down on a rubber band!
I saw it slowly vanishing into his mouth, you don't want to know what was going through my mind. I actually yelled at him and sprung across the floor, thankfully he dropped it...
I scared the life out of him, which is probably why he dropped it...

But oh dear...I just saw him eating it and I thought "he's doing to choke to death!"
I could have hurt him by launching myself across the room like that but I didn't think, I just thought that he'd die if he tried to swallow it.

So I guess this is a warning to everyone else...Double check for things like rubber bands before floor time...
I have no idea how it even got in there. I don't recall ever having any in that room. :{

I gave him a cuddle but he was very unamused, but if I hadn't shocked him, he might not have dropped it and who knows what could have happened!

Oh poor Arnold having a scare like that, but like you said, if you haven't done that, something bad might have happened! Good job for catching that!

Oh that's scary! I'm always scared of things mine might eat. You never know what might be there accidentally, behind the couch or anywhere. All my ones tried to eat was a geranium leaf (not sure if that'd be poisonous but I didn't let them) and a piece of dry cat food (which I wouldn't like them to eat).

I was handrearing kittens and when they got teeth one of them bit the end of the rubber teat of the bottle off and swallowed it! I was so worried but just had to wait and see if she would be ok, and she was fine, thank god. :) I got them to drink from a saucer then!

It is amazing what piggies will eat if they can get their mouth on it.

I hope that Arnold is OK. You may want to make sure that it is coming back out as it can cause problems later on (blockage of the gut).

Aww I hope he didn't eat too much of it and will be okay...

I know what you mean though, guinea pigs are so curious and will nibble on EVERYTHING and ANYTHING they come across...shoes...furniture...books...
:P

He seemed to break the band but it doesn't look like he ate any of it, thankfully.
I've been keeping an eye on him today and he seems alright.

But yes...It's amazing what they'll pick up!
You have to be so careful! I always check the floor but I guess I just wasn't careful enough.
Rubber bands are normally the things we NEED and can never find, I'm amazed that it ended up in the piggies room of all places!

He seems to have forgiven me for scaring him :x he let me stick my hand in the cage and pet him earlier.

Aww I hope he didn't eat too much of it and will be okay...

Too curious for their own good! They really will chew anything. Even you, if you're not careful.

Mine chowed down on my actual Wii! There are nibble marks on one of the corners :))

But it's alright. Your secrets safe with us. Your hubby will never know! :(|)
