I live in Scampton village, famous for the Dambust
I thought I would let you all know about the small grass nests my OH bought for my girls. He got two - one for Poppy and Peggy and one for Mildred, Bright Eyes and Holly.
They are edible, however, at the weekend Mildred was chewing hers and we realized there was wire with sharp edges around the circular opening :o and rusty wire too :o We immediately removed them and checked the girls over, they were fine. Hence they got returned to P at H. The manager was really good and we filled out a complaints form to go to customer services and they took them off the shelves.
While we were in there we looked at the similar products - balls with holes in - I have a feeling there is wire in these too. I just hope they remove all dangerous products - I am waiting to hear from someone from P at H regarding this to see what they are going to do as one of my girls could have got injured.

OOH that's scary isn't it? Hope they aren't a terrible brand and not all their products have dangerous stuff in them as I have a few of their things (none of the larger shaped ones though).

Thank goodness you caught them in time and no harm was done.

Ooh that's nasty. I'm really glad your piggies are ok.

I just went and double checked the 'Nature Huts' my 2 have but there's nothing in them but grass and twigs.

Some of these so called pet accessories are completely inappropriate for small furries. I saw some tunnels being sold a couple of weeks ago which on the surface looked really nice, like they're made of wicker, but when I looked closer, the wicker was just wrapped round card tubes and all the tubes were glue gunned inside really messily with loads of lumps of glue sticking out. Not something I'd want to give piggies to play with.

It's sad you can't rely on shops to sell things that are appropriate really, you have to double check everything.

I got something similar online and it had wire through it! shocking really :(

scary stuff when you think you are buying presents for you and your guineas to enjoy when you may infact be inviting diaster into your home, well spotted and i am glad you complained to the place you bought it from

Well done you for spotting that in time. At least the pet shop done the responsible thing and removed them from the shelves. Will be interesting to hear the outcome..

Thank goodness you saw it in time.
Good luck with hearing from P + H.
