Hi everyone!

So our 18 month old hotpoint washing machine unfortunately has broken bearings. It looks to be an expensive fix, so we may end up just needing to get a new machine.
Our current machine is 7 kg and i'm wondering if if that is really suitable for the guinea pigs fleeces. In my current machine, I wash a 2x6 fleece on one run, then I wash pee pads and noodle mats on another.
Do you guys have larger drums? I genuinely think this is bad luck rather than damage caused by use, but I wonder if going for say a 9kg with guinea pig washing is a better choice! Thanks 😊

Hello I would probably go for a 9 kg as you could wash it all together
I have a 7 kg one but I do my piggies laundry every day but half the cage each day …so it’s usually only 4kg ( they have a 5x2)
A 9kg would cope easily with all your washing / bed linen/ towels etc
I’m not sure that Hotpoint have such a great reputation nowadays.
I got a Bosch series 4 on offer from AO a couple of years ago.
Good luck and I’m sure other people will be along to offer advice

I’d say bigger is always better.

I’m sorry your last one has broken so quickly 😡

If you can go bigger then do it.
I have a Bosch machine, it's eight years old now. I've had Hotpoints before and they didn't last as long as the Bosch has.

Son No 3 works for Bosch and he got us a Series 4 machine when he broke our old Samsung last year. It copes well with the piggie washing and I do 2 loads of piggy washing per week. One load has 2 fleeces, 1 2ft x 4ft and the 1 2ft x 2ft, plus washable liners of the same size and hideys and 2 lap pee pads all in 2 large horse wash bags, the other load is a 5ft square fleece, a washable liner and a couple of hideys in 2 horse wash bags.
