I have recently switched to fleece from wood shavings and I have to say I am finding it much much better. The only problem is that my OH now thinks that all his clothes smell like wet dog! I personally think that he has a rather sensitive nose as I haven't really noticed.

I have bought a wachine machine wash thing, just wondering if any of you have any tips on how to avoid the machine smelling a bit musty after the fleeces have been through a wash.

I use fleece and haven't really noticed a lingering smell in the machine or on subsequent loads.

The only problem I find is that there'll invariably be piggy hairs left behind, so I have to give the inside a quick wipe before using it again. (Some people use an old duvet cover or wash bag to contain the hairs and stop the machine clogging but I've not got around to this yet!)

Sometimes I put a good 'slosh' of white vinegar in the fabric conditioner compartment, when washing fleece. You could give this a try but your OH might complain that his clothes smell of pickled onions instead! :)

He LOVES Pickled Onions, my dad makes his own super strong ones and he eats them by the bucket load so I doubt he would notice the smell of vinegar as he reeks of the stuff quite often anyway!

I dont notice the smell either and I wash mine every day, I also use white vinegar in the conditioning drawer. :)

We have only just switched to towels for the pigs, and i have a big wash bag with a pet hair filter and wash them on there own on a 90.:)

I do a rinse wash after washing my fleeces and before washing my clothes. I'm interested in your wash bag with pet hair filter - where do you get these ? Would be handy for my dog blankets too....:))

I do an lot of dog bed washing as well as GP fleeces, I run the machine empty at 90 with some bleach every couple of weeks and don't have a problem, If you are worried about running it empty put a few tea-towels.

Another one here who uses pillow cases and duvet covers to wash the gangs vet bed and fleece. I secure the open end with a hair elastic to keep the piggy hair inside. I also run my machine on a rinse wash after I have done the piggy washing just to be on the safe side.:)

I wash mine in a cheap duvet cover, with the open end tied in a big knot.

I bought a horse wear wash bag from the local saddlery, I got the large size it was £10.99,it keeps all the loose hair inside it.
I'm much happier washing my fleeces now:)

I have a large wash bag from cavy couture, I love it! I never have a problem with smell either x

Brilliant I shall be trying out all of these tips. Hopefully Mr Sensitive nose wont complain anymore!
