My guineas have a cushion bed (like a dog pillow) in half of their cage (my one piggie loves it, he lies sprawled out on it), tonight I am going to go and buy some vet bed to replace the sawdust on the other half after all of the recommendations on here O0

Now, for the washing of vet bed and my pillow - do you put it in a normal wash with a decent spin with washing powder and fabric softner? i don't want to give my poor piggies an allergy or anything. ?

Brush off any hay/poo etc and wash at 40 degrees, fast spin is fine. I use non biological powder (fairy) which wont irritate their sensitive skins. Dont use fabric conditioner as it acts as a barrier thus making it less absorbant. I also tumble dry mine or just hang out to dry :)

I agree with lavenderjade, although I do use bio liquid to power though the stains and whatever bacteria may be present. It seems sensible to go with non-bio anyway, every pig is different.
It'll need a good flippin spin! Sucks up water like nothing else I've seen!
