Water bottle problem

Well i have the normal water bottles with the white wire thing that holds it on. Well its on tight, i even find it hard to put on sometimes. Baylee and Mansell have somehow managed to pull the wire into the cage and the bottle falls on the floor. I thought maybe it was an accident at first but now there doing it everyday and there trying to eat the white off the wire. I'm scared they will poke themselves or swollow some of the wire etc. What should i do?

Sometimes they do this for fun or because they are bored... I've got one that does it!

Either use one of those cable ties (the plastic ones) as this won't come off or I use a hairband!

Miffy (who is a rabbit) has started doing this aswell. So I've just put it up higher so he can still reach it when he needs a drink but can't unhook/bash it out his cage.

my two older girls pinky and perky who are currently living indoors for the winter keep pulling there water bottle down as well it is like that every morning

One of my hamsters does the same thing! I go in every day and his bottle is on the floor! Think they just do it to wind us up sometimes!

My hamster does this. We have put an extra wire on it from another water bottle so its now too tough for her to do it

I think the spring retainer is a really good idea.

I make my own bottle holders out of a piece of curtain wire with a hook in each end

I loop thick elastic bands around the bottle & cage.This seems to keep the bottle very secure .the bottle doesnt slip if they are tight enough
