Water Bottle Troubles

I was cleaning out my guinea pigs’ water bottle nozzles with a Q-tip (aka cotton swab) and when I took out the Q-tip there was a small black piece of round rubber on it. I don’t know where it is supposed to go in or how to fix it. Do I need to have it in for it to function properly? Please help!
 
No idea I’m afraid. What kind of bottle is it? The ones I have only use small balls in the spout part.
 
Is it perhaps supposed to be in the upper end of the cap? Do you have another you could check and see? They should have two of each anyway.
 
If you take off the cap of the water bottle, is there a black rubber ring? If so, it's probably a piece of that, and shouldn't affect the water bottle negatively.
