hello! (if i’m posting this in the wrong place please let me know<3)
my piggies drink a lot at night and our water bottle is very loud.
are there ANY water bottles that are recommended and are quieter? i hate waking up my family. thank you!

This is a good question, I haven't come across this before. Sounds strange but it can depend on the pig aswell, some are loud clumbsy drinkers, some are more delicate with the water bottle spout.I can tell which one of my Guinea pigs is drinking without looking. I think the narrower the spouts are, the quiter the bottle is, and it can also depend on how firm it is attached to the cage bars. If the bottle is quite loosely fitted, it can make more noise.

The main source of the noise though, does come from the two ball bearing clashing together 🤔. I think when more people are online in the morning, there will be more ideas come up for you 👍

thank you! i think it’s a mix of them being messy drinkers, the bottle and the placement of it on the bars. hopefully i’ll figure something out! i appreciate it! 💘

Water bowls are a completely silent option. Some take to them and some don’t and you have to keep on top of refilling it once or twice a day but it’s a lot better on the ears, especially at 2am :)

Hi there. We use this bowl for are girls.

It's fairly heavy so the piggie would never be able to tip it over. And they can drink from it easily. I believe its more natural for them aswell
But you need to check its clean often. Sometimes poop gets init. The odd bit of hay is fine they seem to enjoy eating it. As long as it isn't left in the bowl overnight.

I think Sippy bottles are quieter but my lot didn't get on with them. It does also depend on the pig as @SkyPipDotBernie says. I can tell which of my six are at the bottle they all sound different, Brillo sounds like a machine gun and you can hear him all over the house. Red bashes the bottle, pulls it around and it often falls off the cage with a bang. I have now attatched it with a spring and a wire to stop it coming off.

Mine had their bottle confiscated at night for a while because one of them made so much noise with it! (They had a bowl instead) now they have the bottle back along with the bowl and they generally use the bowl in preference

i just went out and got a bowl today for them along with some other toys and stuff.
they haven’t quite drank out of the bowl but they were very interested in jumping on top of it. a mess lmao. we’ll keep trying and if they don’t drink out of it, we’ll bring the water bottle back in.
