Recently, I've noticed that my guinea pigs have been pulling on their water bottles with an unecessary amount of strength. It's to the point where the bottle is sliding off of the wire that hooks it up to the C&C cage. I do clean the inside of it constantly, including the nasal with a Q-Tip. So, I know that water is coming out of it and I do make sure it works after I hang it on the cage. Does anyone have any advice on how I can teach them to not pull on it so hard?

P.S: Sorry if I posted this on the wrong forum. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be under Daily Care or Food...

I had a boy who would pull on the water bottle so hard it would wake me up at night. We also got the ferplast sippy bottle and then he never had an issue drinking again. He was terminally ill at the time so would be excessively thirsty and the water in regular bottles just didn’t seem to provide enough water at one time for him to be at all hydrated.

Frustrated pigs on water bottles - yep I know that one. The water doesn’t seem to be quick enough for them.
Have you tried this kind?

Yes, impatient piggies is what it sounds like! I've never heard of these water bottles before. I looked them up and it seems like these would fit on a C&C Cage. You're a life saver. Thank you!

Yes, it wakes me up all the time or I have a hard time falling asleep. I'm glad the ferplast worked out for you. Sorry to hear about your ill piggie.

You could also add a water bowl to the cage. It’s bound to get a little messy and you have to use a ceramic bowl to prevent tipping but it’s the most natural way for your piggie to get as much as they need. :)

I do have one for the piggie that I adopted because he has no top teeth. He doesn't know how to drink from the water bottle and he does well with the bowl. My other pigs prefer the water bottles that I have in the cage. I think I may just buy the Ferplast and see how that works out. If not, maybe I'll try training them to use a bowl. Thanks for the suggestion!
