Water Bottles - the bane of my life!

I’m gonna go for some kind of cat litter (natural) or something like mega zorb in their kitchens as puppy pads and newspaper and fleece is causing a huge stink because of the ever dripping water bottles! Losing sleep over these things! I went with a water bowl and found Betty sitting in it to wee They turn their noses up at hay racks and won’t eat if it’s in there so have to put it in their kitchens. Struggling with the whole water bottle/hey/smell and emptying the kitchen area about 3 times a day! Anyone ever trained a GP to use a straw or cup and saucer?

What type of bottles are you using ?

I use the type with a ball in the nozzle and find it helps if , before you put it in the holder , you give the bottle a bit jiggle and let a few bubbles rise .

I think the science bit behind this is it creates a vacuum .

I personally use drip pads under my water bottles and change when needed. I check on a night but usually if I fill the bottles to the top they don’t leak.

I think it may be their wee and poo too. They’re very good and do most of it in their kitchen but I need something more absorbent. I’ve seen some Ferplast ones that look like they have different science so may try one of them? Is it only my girls that won’t entertain hey in a rack? I stuff toilet rolls with it and they eat that but I always like them to have a load of hey available.

How about hay trays ? Either a shallow cardboard box or a cat litter tray filled with Megazorb and topped with hay . Easier to keep clean than cleaning out the whole cage .


I use wine boxes as beds for the same reason
