After some recommendations from this forum, I have just bought a water filter ( I bought BRITA ) and am reading the instructions. In the instructions, it comments that the filtering process can result in a slight increase in potassium in the water. Also, sometimes a bit of silver . Can anyone envisage this as a problem?

Can I ask what was said about the water filter? I've never heard this before :(:hmm:

... The main reason people are recommending water filters is for people who live in hard water areas as the hardness is calcium. This is particularly important for people who have guinea pigs that are prone to bladder stones.

some people have had water that is heavily chlorinated.

There has been some discussion about areas that add Fluoride to the drinking water - but no conclusions have been made about Fluroide - I'm not even sure if a domestic water filter removes fluoride.

What is the opinion on bottled water? I have been using Volvic for my boys for about 8 months now topped up with just a bit of tap water in case there are any useful minerals in tap water that are not in the bottled. I use Volvic as it is lower in calcium than other brands and the water in my area is extremely hard. I'd heard filtering can bring its own unwanted effects to the water. Any help would be most welcome.
