I've had my 2 piggies home since Saturday and they've never drank any water. They have been getting veg twice a day (along with their normal food) - would they be getting enough water from them? Just a bit concerned at them not drinking anything. ?

Hiya,

Mine don't drink a lot od water either. If they are getting veggies then they will get water from that. I give cucumber everyday at the mo as it is a firm favourite that is 96% water.

Hi - I've had my piggies just over a week now and I had the same concern-they didn't drink for about 3 - 4 days....then hey presto! I think they just needed to get used to their new environment! I was advised to put Carrot drink for vitamin C in their water, turns it orange but they seem to like it! I bought mine at a good pet shop. Hope that helps....some piggies though just aren't drinkers.

i went throught he same thing when i got my piggies, now they drink the water in their bottle VERY quickly! ::) What you can do is give them some cucumber so that they are getting some liquid, all piggies seem to like cucumber! But dont worry - they will start driking, their just settling in. :)

Don't worry, i think its normal. My piggies don't drink much water either. They get a lot of moisture in the veg they eat. I always make sure they have some cucumber every day, just to get a bit of extra water in them!

As long as they are p'ing plenty i think you can assume they're getting enough water.

Might try the carrot thing tho, good tip!

Thank you. I'll get some cucumber for them today and see how they get on. Hopefully they'll start drinking in a few days. Thanks. ;D

Mine didnt at first but dont worry cause they are drinking it-just in smaller portions. And dont worry about them not being able to find the water cause their little noses do that job for them :) Hope they settle in alright O0

Thats great that probably means theyve explored their cage and have settled in :)
