hi guys

just a random question, iv tried looking for it but cant find it on the forum I'm sure it will of been asked before.

on average how much water does your piggies drink a day - whats normal?

the day i got mine last week they drank quite a lot (bowt half a bottle) but since then the bottle doesnt seem to be going down much at all. They know were the bottle is and iv seen them both using it on several occasions (both babies).

WE do not have a thread, because the water intake can vary so much, not just from piggy to piggy, but from day to day. some will never drink at all!

some drink loads, others not much at all! can't really say how much is normal, you'll just have to keep an eye out so you can see how much is normal for craig and david. :)

Yip, agree with Wiebke, some pigs drink, some don't. One of pigs used to drink all of the water by herself and the other never touched it. If they are getting fresh food 2 times a day that will contain quite a lot of water for them. Especially things like cucumber. Don't worry, they will drink if they're thirsty and you might find it picks up a bit when the weather gets hotter (here's hoping it will soon!).

I agree. I haven't seen my new girl Erin drink since I brought her home on Sunday. However, they have been eating a lot of watery foods such as melon and cucumber so I'm not too worried :)

Feel free to keep the questions coming! I still learn loads from people on here and I have had guineas for 4 years.:) It's very good to be as observant as you have been, your guinea pigs are very lucky to have such a concerned and caring owner!

The only time i've known mine to drink more than they usually do is when they have readigrass - this can make them thirstier so if you do feed it don't worry if their water intake increases :)

thanks everyone. me and my stupid posts again.

must admit i am learning a lot from you all so thanks xx

Not a stupid post at all. In all the time I have been here, I have asked lots of questions that I have felt a little silly about asking, but they have all been for the welfare of my guinea pigs. It is better to ask these things as you won't no otherwise xx

thanks everyone for your supportive comments.

Its sad how some people will be buying them and not looking into how your supposed to be looking after them. Cant believe how much iv learned since when i got them on friday :))

i love them xx

Yeah I've learned loads from the extremely helpful people on this forum!

My piggies vary in the water that they drink, 3 drink a fair bit but the other 2 don't really touch it.

i have large bunny bottles think they are 600ml or something between two they usually get through half a bottle. If they get more veg than normal they do drink less or sometimes they hardly touch it and I don't know why!
