I've had my guineas nearly a week now & i am noticing that they don't drink v much, if any in a day. I know it's winter but surely they should still be drinking. I say if any, as the amount gone from the bottle could just be caused by a drip here and there from me opening the hutch etc

Thanks
Becky

Some guinea pigs do not drink very much. If they are outside were it is cold they are less likely to drink much water. They should be getting water from their vegetables.

Guess they must be getting it from their veggies then!

As long as it's noting to worry about

Thanks

When I had two piggies they would not drink at all. Now I have five they all drink non stop. It is very strange. They seem to act differently when they are in a herd.

I've only had my piggies a few weeks and I was worried about their lack of drinking as well but they seem happy and lively and judging by how wet the newspaper under their hay is they are widdling for Britain! My older pair that I've only had a week seem to drink quite a bit but there again they eat more dry hay than the babies.

All of my 15 piggies drink really well daily except one Aby boar - in the 18 months we've had him, I have never seen him drink :{
He's a big boy and very healthy so I wouldn't worry too much, they do get a lot of water from fresh veggies especially cucumber, cherry tomatoes etc.

Same as other people have said really, I have had a couple of girls who drank a lot, one was quite obsessed by it, vet said it was not diabetes, I think she liked the sound! My current pig I have not seen drink for about 6 months, he must be, but I never see it, and he is very happy pig.

I too have a big Abby boar and I havent seen him drink since I first got him at 3 weeks old - but both my girls will go through a bottle every 2 days between them.
