Watermelon

If they have never had it before I would given them a small piece just to check it doesn't upset their tummies. Perhaps about an inch cube? And they can and do eat (and enjoy very much) the skin.

Ooh do they eat the skin? That might convince them to like it and make less mess, going to try that tomorrow :)

Oh yes. piggies are great for recycling the skins of all melons. In fact mine seldom ever get the flesh unless I’m in a sharing mood. But in this hot weather I’ve been giving them more of the flesh.

Not all piggies have the same tastes. But I’ve not yet had a piggy who didn’t like all types of melon. It’s usually a favourite.
 
Oh yes. piggies are great for recycling the skins of all melons. And squash skin too and, while we're at it, banana skin!
 
I had no idea they could have the skin! Or Banana skin - Is it better if it’s really yellow or starting to brown?
 
Mine like banana skin too! @Posyrose and they prefer a galia or a cantaloupe melon skin to a honeydew (at least they get gobbled up quicker than a honeydew melon skin!) not that they get it very often just as a treat.
 
Theo loves watermelon! Normally I am quite sensible with piggy feeding but Theo was so happy to discover watermelon and the girls didnt want theirs so it all got a bit out of control :) His little white chin and feet are pink now and all his face fur is sticky :)
