Hi folks!

My piggies have a good indoor cage i.e. each floor is a good 13sq' without too many things/ladders in the way. However, although my older piggies don't run about anymore, I do want to give them the chance in a longer run and was wondering if existed, a waterproof mat that was long (like a corridor rug) and you could roll it out when you needed it, with flaps that tied up at the sides to stop them getting out? I could put them a tube then that ran out to it in the evening when I wasn't using my studio to give them more floor space. I have tried allsorts of other things i.e. putting down paper, boxes, cloths etc then putting the metal fencing around, but it's a pain to do every time and still gets my laminate floor wet.

Is it something I need to make myself or has anyone ever seen anything like this before somewhere?

Many thanks

Hi there!

Ah, well I have something similar called a 'TRun' - it's huge and foldable into a carry case and has a great floor - but, is hexagonal shaped so takes up most of our lounge floor!lol. We do use it and did over Xmas so they were with us in the warmest room, but with 6 piggies, it doesn't provide much space to run in.
We are also using it for our new piggy till she integrates with the others. One doesn't like her at all and is always chasing her and making threatening noises when we give them 'together' time. It's so sad as I mainly got her to keep that one company, as she was also the odd one out! Bah!

Hummm, maybe I should invent something then...

Re the shower curtain - good idea as a temp measure, but mine will eat through it in no time. Wanted something really thick - like I have in the bottom of the TRun i.e. tough material on the top but plastic bottom so the pee doesnt seep through, ha ha.

Oo, are they normally plastic or rubber? Yes, I think I willl have to go and invade the DIY store and see what they have! It will then be a case of getting some metal rods and so the sides can stay up. Failing that, I could use a camping mat (cheap to replace one they have eaten through it!) and stick plastic liner underneath.
Thanks for the ideas!

I think you can get both plastic and rubber and different quality. Don't forget we need to see pics of what you come up with *lol*

we use a shower curtian under our boy's grids, but under towels, fleece etc. However, Harry has nibbled twice.

I forgot about the picnic blanket! Yes, we tried that as well but they also straight through that :( . Maybe it's because it was only thin, lol. I think I will have to find maybe one of those door mat style rubber ones - a long one though. That will be non slip and take some chewing through I reckon!

You know what I just found when clearing my car out for a valet? A boot liner! Lol. It's thick and waterproof and the sides fold up (zip and press studs) to form a box shape. The longer sides are rather floppy though, but I reckon with some stiff wire I should be able to adapt it!
