Hi All,
My 6-month old teddy boy Bhalu has had a little milky white bump on his right eye since I adopted him as a baby. I initially treated it with Optrex Infected Eye drops, assuming it was a hay poke and wanting to prevent infection. However, six days of eye drops didn't seem to make any difference to the eye's appearance. The eye didn't seem to bother him at all so I thought maybe it's just a little scar tissue from a hay poke that has now healed.
However, I've lately been noticing that his right eye seems a little more watery and crusty than his left. Should I be worried? As he's a teddy I'm thinking it could be entropion but it doesn't look like his eyelashes are poking his eye and I doubt this could have caused the little white lump? Do I need to see a vet? Here's a photo comparing his right (bad) eye with his left (good) eye, with the little white lump pointed out with a pink arrow.

Please have him seen by a competent vet. Any potential eye injury should be seen promptly, as the damage can be more extensive than visible to the naked eye; eye injuries can deteriorate very quickly. Don't treat just on spec!

Please get him seen by a vet. Could be an ulcer/hay poke the vet will be able to prescribe the needed drops and possibly antibiotics. They can also put dye in the eye to check for damage. The sooner the better, let us know how he gets on, please tell them what drops you have used also so they have full history

Healing vibes to your little boy, please keep us updated on how you get on

Ok, thanks, I've made a vet appointment for this week. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Update: Just got back from the vet's. His eye actually looked a lot better today. Some days it's crusty and watery, other days it looks fine. The vet thinks I am right about it being entropion. It appears his lower lid is rolled slightly inwards, which is probably what caused the scarring in his eye when he was a baby. She gave me fusidic acid drops to use for a week and I am going back next Friday for a checkup. She mentioned the corrective surgery done in puppies but that it would be very "fiddly" on a guinea pig. Sounds like she's never done it on a piggy before and honestly it sounds a bit horrible (they cut off part of the lid or use staples to pull the lid down). I don't think it's worth putting him through such an unpleasant, risky procedure as he's in such good spirits and doesn't seem bothered by his eye. I also think he is still growing so perhaps it may correct itself. Fingers crossed!

Turning the lid out is usually not a big thing in new born guinea pigs (where entropion usually occurs), but it doesn't seem to have happened with yours. :(
