My Alpaca guinea pig Snowball seems to have waxy ears. When he went to the vets she said just clean them regularly with a cotton bud. So that's what we do now. Does anyone else's guinea pig have this problem?

Dindy has the same problem. Her left ear more so than the right. I clean her ears about once a fortnight. Her ears are black so the wax is black. I never loose sight of the cotton bud end and never let it go right into her ear. I allways have to be ready for her doing a head shake if she feels uncomfortable so as not to let her ram the cotton but into her own ear by accident. I just work the bud round the visable channels and creases of her ear and can use upto 5 or 6 buds. I allways use different buds for each ear to stop any possibility of cross contamination. She is quite good at letting me clean her ears most of the time and she allways gets a treat afterwards.

So there's no reason why this happens? And i always use 2/3 cotton buds, there's just little balls of it. Only clean it where i can see it, so not down the ear!

I have two piggies, one NEVER seems to get any wax, although i clean his ears anyway, the other i use about 8 cotton buds on every 2 weeks! :P
