I'm not 100% certain but

Trixie ~ Depends how many rosettes she has if any O0 But looks like a DE White Peru/Abyssinian :smitten:

Oh WOW you've got two gorgeous little girlies there :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
LOL maybe not little but super cute tho :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Oh i'm sure these girls are going to win your heart :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
CONGRATULATIONS :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

I'm sure you can help me here. Trixi our little white girl above is very quiet when we handle her she is statuesque and makes no sound she obviously isnt sure of our intentions yet, however Bella (the shelty) hoots when she is handled. I think this is a sound of concern, mainly because when i pick her up at first she does it quicker and louder and becomes quiter when she realises she is in no danger. I am conscious that others have said hooting is a good thing and Cavys make this noice when they are happy. Any pointers people?

PS surely these animals must be the most adorable creatures on the face of the planet :smitten:

They are definitely the cutest animals on the planet thats for sure :smitten:

The loud squeaking noise may be just that shes scared and wants to be put down but if any of my piggies do thisi pet them for ages every day until they get used to it ;D You may notice that her eyes will widen when shes frightened

The other noise your other piggy is making sounds like rumbling :)

Yes Trixi ( white cavy) does indeed rumble, she is the one who seems most scared. We are trying to handle them for half an hour per night then give them a treat to get them used to us.

if bella keeps getting a wet bum id trim her hair round her bum area so its nice and short so it wont get wet from touching the pee on the floor, i do this with my longhaired piggy and he stays clean for much longer, until the hair grows back ;D

Yeah to me rumbling is a sign of being in charge - All my piggies do it ;D ;D
I dont think it means there scared O0

Thanks to all the people who have commented on this thread, i joined the Forum becaue i think the sharing of "real time" information is more relevant than a lot of text in a book. A special mention to those who have added the odd pointer for us, we are trying to give our little piggies the best home we can and to quote a major shopping outlet "every little helps".

;)

when we checked her today she was dry and much cleaner after the little scrub we gave her yesterday, a wee brush also teased out her knotted fur. We are keeping an eye on her though.

Yeah my Trixie is long-haired and I give her rear-end a good trim every few minbths to keep it off the floor

:D

Well today was the best session we have had with them, they were eating lettuce (romaine) out of ours hands and when we put the back with their toys they were playing follow my leader and trixi was chirping away merrily to herself :smitten:

We have videod them for ten minutes truly georgous little creatures.

I knew you'd love them you'll get to know their personality's and who's the boss out of the two of them O0
They're such great animals
