So I ordered some hay on Monday and it has been delivered today!

I ordered some readigrass, green oat readigrass, deans farm hay and alfalfa king Timothy hay. The guinea pigs haven't had any of these hays apart from readigrass before so we did some taste testing! :)
Here are the results:
Alfalfa king Timothy hay: I gave them a piece each and they sniffed it and walked away. I tried again. They chewed on it a bit and then dropped it and looked at me. I put a bit more in their bowl and I left them to see if they eat it. Sammy picked through it and Lucky went to the hay rack to eat some of their normal hay!

Green oat readigrass: I gave them a piece each and they ate it straight away. I put a little bit in their bowl and I watched them eat it. I guess they liked this one! :)

Deans farm hay: I put a handful of it in their bowl because the pieces are really thin and long and I didn't feel like trying to get one piece. They ate some of it and walked away.

Readigrass: I put a handful of it in their bowl and they had a lot of fun eating it, running to their water bottle and eating it again. I kind of expected this because it's one of their favourite hays :)

They ended up eating most of the hays I gave them but they left quite a bit of the Timothy hay. I guess its a bit too thick for their liking. My rabbits don't seem too excited about it either, I guess getting the smallest bag was a good idea. :)

Lucky piggies to get so many treats! You may find they at art eating the stuff they not too keen on, try a little bit each day for next few days as well as stuff they like.

Can highly recommend oxbow orchard grass for future treats.

Haha fussy pigs! :D Mine love that Timothy hay, especially the fuzzy bits :D Persevere with it, it's low calcium & great for their teeth, my new rescue sow turned her nose up at it for about 2 days, now she is in the hay tray as I am trying to put fresh hay in lol :D

Aww that's good, I will keep putting it in their bowl and hopefully they will start eating it! :)

Thank you for the advice, I will keep putting it in. I want them to eat it, it looks so good! :)

I'm planning the get the oxbow orchard grass next time I order hay which might be next month, we currently have 8 different bags of hay :D do you recommend any other hays?

The Deans Farm is what we use, it is relatively local to here and so what the farm shops stock. It costs me a fortune as our nearest stockist has an amazing cafe

Stupid question, but what is the readygrass? I thought hay was dry grass...

It's freeze dried grass :)

The t
Mine LOVE the ready grass I've just got to find a " normal " hay to feed along side now !

I currently use b&m meadow hay and the deans farm hay (since yesterday) as their "normal" hay. :) all the other ones are used as treat hays, in their bowl or mixed with their normal hay because they come in small bags :)

Have you tried this one?
Mühldorfer Organic Hay at zooplus

I think I will order it next month and see if they like it as their main hay :)

I've not tried that one, I've ordered some orchid hay and the other type of friendly dried grass to try the oat one ? Still in presute of a low calcium every day hay, many ill give thar one a go ! Thanks !

Mine get a handful of Oxbow Timothy Hay fed as a treat every evening in addition to their normal hay which is always available. They yell at me at about 9pm each day as that's the usual time they get it and they can't get enough of it. They also love Excel dandelion And marigold hay which I mix into their normal hay to make them forage for it. Most other hays have been unsuccessful (fussy bunch) and readigrass was a real waste of money as they weren't keen so I donated it elsewhere.
