Hi
Just thought I’d let you know we lost our little girl on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
We noticed a lump so took her to vet who performed an ultrasound and confirmed she’d 2 ovarian cysts, one quite big.
We were offered the draining and hormone treatment or spaying options and after much deliberation we went for the spaying because of the risk of them returning or the treatment not working would meant more anaesthetic & trauma in the future for our girl.
So the vet done the procedure & she came round and was eating well when the vet gave her a late feed however she died overnight.
We are devastated, my little girl was beside herself, sobbed for,24hrs I think. My immediate thoughts were we should not have done the spay route & conveyed that to The vet however she said the fluid the removed from big cyst was black and bloody and they needed to be removed.
Still hurts as i just wish she was with us longer, I wish we’d have been able to feel them earlier.. 😢
She was a wee rescue piggy, so chilled and so gentle and super sweet. We only got them last July.
Her wee buddy ( who was also her daughter) is looking ok just now. She had loads of grass time the past few days & lots of cuddles. She’s a bit more jumpy than Princess was but will sit nice and cuddles and tickles. She’s eating and all everything else normal, popcorning for her veggies etc.
I know a few of you guys had helped last year when she’d a foot infection Princess had due to her poor living conditions before the rescue centre received her. We changed over completely to vet bed & fleece to make sure she was always comfortable and she was doing great with her wee dodgy feet 😌
So sad, Just a sad household all round.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Did the vet say why she didn't make it after the surgery?

I have Finn and Lara living side by side in different cages becuase they are not fixed. I am afraid to put my boy Finn through a surgery for the same reason, there is a chance he won't make it. Finn is still only a baby at a year and a half years old. My exotic vet also said Lara can't get a surgery unless she has medical issues in her reproductive organs.

Oh, I am sorry that you have lost little Princess. How awful for you, you must be feeling very sad x just remember you did your very best for her and gave her a life full of love 💖
Sleep tight little lady x

They didn’t know. 😢
She was ok after surgery and was taking food but slipped away overnight.
We’d no choice to do something. In the week of discovering the cyst and operation she was peeing blood and in pain. Her weight had a dropped a bit too. She was nearly 4. We thought she’d have that on her side rather than doing the hormone treatment then in 6 months have to so it again or decide to spay then.
