Well following on from my previous thread here

http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=71629

AATA has been giving me brilliant regular updates on Snicks and her progress.

I got a text while I was out riding yesterday asking me to give her a call, which started with her saying 'I have some good news and some bad news'

I started imagining vet bills of hundreds as Snickers had bitten all her herd mallethead

But no...

The good news was, Snickers was in with the herd and all was well

The bad news was...I was having to take at least one new piggy home :)) so not bad news at all really, hehe!

In true Snicks style, she walked into the herd, straight up to the current boss, said 'oi I'm here now!' and after some swearing completely usurped poor Flower and took over the herd!

AATA has been keeping an eye on them and it is clear she is already favouring some pigs more than others...which brings me to explaining the thread title...

Originally we hoped she would bond with Nancy, who she is getting on well with after initially making sure Nancy knew she was boss, seen here

However she has also taken rather a shine to Leti...

Now I am rather a fan of pink eyeds...so after some more chatting and me making puppy dog eyes at the OH, we are now hoping to take home

Snickers (obviously)
Nancy
Leti

and...

Dib Dab, who is due to be neutered soon, to complete the mini herd (AATA and I are in agreement that we are not keen on trios and Snicks would be better in a herd as she can't boss all three about at once, so what choice did I have!)

I am sooooo excited, not only do we get another rex but I get my first ever lilac mix pigs, and what girl could say not to a pink and purple guinea pig?!

We still have to make sure Snicks and the other girls accept Dib Dab when he is done but hopefully this will go well, if not we will see who else comes along.

THANK YOU SO MUCH CLAIRE! And also again to Amanda and Jenny for taking Snicks up for me, I am so incredibly grateful to you all x>>

Noooooooo not Dib Dab I love him. More seriously its good he has a home lined up as he is such a lovely boy.

Awww, what wonderful news Doey! What a shame Snickers has taken to more pigs than you expected, naughty snickers :x:)):(|)!

OoooOOoOoooh all the new piggies are gorgeous!! LOVE Leti. drool x

She is so pretty, I am quite a fan of unusual colours, my Mum has never seen lilac before so she is pretty excited too - just a bit upset I will have moved out by then, lol

We never planned on even thinking about him, but Claire said he really is wanting company and she was thinking about having him done anyway, and as I always like a boar to stop the females *****ing when I have a herd, there he was! You can definitely be his forum auntie :)

I know, clearly she takes after me and is rubbish at only ever getting one...:red :(|)

Congratulations! Snickers has provided an instant herd. Marvellous. :) She's made some fab choices there.

I really need to get better photos of Leti and Dibby! Snicks has been such a good girl, she's fitted straight in, nomming this evening with her best pal Leti and my girl Polly. No more snipes from or at anyone, its like she's been here forever. Dibby will be so grateful of the company, poor boy is crying out for somepig to love. Lilac is my favorite colour so Lyndsey has done well to prize them off me, or rather Snickers has. At least I still have Jelly to moon over for a while x)

As ever, my China took the huff, such a diva and went and sulked 'down stairs' while everyone else chilled in the hayloft, but she's given in today.

Will try and get some photos for you Lyndsey, and of course everyone else to see tomorrow.

I know you liked him Fiona, at least you can keep up with him via the forum.

No need to thank me, it's the pigs that have to do the work really xx

She has honestly taken me completely by surprise, but that just shows how out of my depth I was with her - lesson one and by far the most important with bonding, if you can't cope, find an expert!

I must say their hutch is going to look stunning, we have a choc and white (Snicks), lilac and white, lilac tri and tricoloured rex...!

You know I think I may have or have had a guinea in almost every colour now (apart from dalmation and roan obv)

That is lovely news! What a beautiful bunch they are! x) I absolutely love rexes!

Hee hee Snickers clearly has her own ideas about how many piggies you should have for her to boss around Doey ....no single boar/sow for her :))

I'm really happy to hear she has finally found some friends and that also she has settled in so quickly.

Well done everyone involved.

x

Poor China, I am glad she is back in the loft with the others now!

Photos would be lovely if you are not too busy :) and of course I would thank you, not only about Snicks but for your advice on Whiskey and the food and everything xx

Me too, I like anything floofy or rough so Nancy was a dead cert if Snicks liked her lol

I really, really think your 'rehab work' helped her so much though - it got her used to other pigs better than she could have here, and gave her the grounding to go and be bonded.

I am slightly worried how she will be with Dibby but think as there are two other sows, we hopefully won't have the usual negative response to a boar...she did like Ginger after all!

NO Marc will kick me out of my own flat hahaha!

(Maybe when we have a bigger garden ;) )

haha

In regards to Dib, we'll see how it goes but I can't see it being a problem, she's not an out and out pain in the bum like some I've had, she does back down. Both China and Pip have warned her when she's got bolshy earlier and she didn't even bother answering back.

Glad she is learning she can't always have her own way! She needs some manners lol.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek what terrific news for Snickers x)
awwww three little play mates coming home x)x)x)

It will be lovely seeing them all together and getting updates x)drool

He will adore the company. He was obviously loving the attention from me while I was there if a little skittish. As his forum auntie I wish him luck with his girls.

Snickers has made her own instant mini herd - well done! Tehy all look fab and dib dab is a very handsome boy...

Dib dab and Leti had limited handling before coming in, Jelly in my opinion had not been handled at all other than for transporting her. They've come a long way. Leti is very cuddly and Dibby is a sweetie too now. Jelly is slowly coming around and is fine once you've got hold of her now, unlike when she came in, she was like a jumping bean bless her. Bearing in mind Dibby was in a 6ft x 4ft run when you saw him, he did very well.

Just catching up with things after the weekend, glad snickers made it to Wales and she is enjoying the piggies.

Look forward to hearing more about her and her 'gang' and dont forget Rocky on your way back Doey!

yes, Rocky, his favorite trick at the moment is hanging off the top of his cage by his beak and swinging rolleyes He's just changing his feathers too.

So here are some photos from today.

We are quite excited to be bringing Rocky home, I get to have a budgie for a day hehe! We hope he doesn't come back saying 'Mind The Gap!' from hearing it on the train journey lol!

ooooh Claire those pics are so lovely, Snicks is looking bossy as usual, right in the middle of everyone else, so different to when she was 'bonded' with her 'sister'

I can't get my head around the fact there will be so many different colours spread over 4 pigs in one herd :))
