Popcorns & Wheeks
Teenage Guinea Pig
Today, the 28th of December will always be a day that will fill our hearts with sorrow. As this is the date we lost you King Dexter and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let you go.
Finally now my sunshine boy you are at peace, after months of turmoil and suffering. You are now free to popcorn over the Rainbow
and join Princess Susie and Queen Heidi and be King of the Rainbow kingdom that I know you will love and enjoy. After all, it is known for neverending nummys (veggies).
I'll never forget the day you were born, the first of the precious three and Daddy literally saved you Dexter by freeing you from your birthday sac! The way you wobbled around your new home, missing your footing, I knew from there on we were gonna have a lot of fun with you our special boy.
The way you would demand your dinner and puff your cheeks out, chewing hard on those bars was one of our favourite moments of each day and of course, hay time was such a delight, watching you get totally excited to burrow in it.
The zoomies Dexter! What did we call you....the fastest guinea pig in the north east, you would soar around that floor like a bird free in the sky. You really did and always will bring me and your Daddy joy.
The name Daddy would call you, oh yes.... his Sunshine Jim, that would send you into your delightful mad half hours that we so loved to watch and we will miss seeing every single day. We will also miss your nibbles and constant kisses but save them for the other piggies you are about to meet, they will love you Dexter and I know you will love them too, my super social boy!
Dexter our boy we love you with all our heart and soul and hope you can forgive us for beginning this whole ordeal in the first place. We will never forgive ourselves for putting you through surgery to begin with as maybe things may have been very different and you would still be here with us now. We are also sorry for separating you from your family (vets orders) in your final weeks and wish now we had kept you with your pals, if only we knew we didn't have more precious time. We will never forgive ourselves.
Enjoy the land of green peppers (his favourite) my special boy and eat until your heart and tummy are content! Don't worry about your Mother Ruby and little Sister Deliah, we will keep them safe until you meet again.
Like me and Daddy always used to say, Mammy and Daddy will never leave you. We will meet again my precious boy
