weighed the 2 day old baby which is very small but doing great now and it weighs 43grams the biggest weighs 73grams what should they normally be?@)

Sorry - it's Saturday and we are all normal members on here!

Babies should weigh ideally between 70-100g. I have had one that weighed about 60g without problems.

Your small sounds very small. You could give it additional feed with full fat goatsmilk (not via syringe, though; that could injure the pup) and later on with fine porridge oats soaked in goats milk.

Best pm nutmeg; she has successfully brought up a pup with a similar weight to yours this summer.

Furryfriends is online, she's an admin but will probs be able to help

I agree with the PMing nutmeg - little Mulan wasn't gaining weight before she came to live with me and it was Nutmeg nursed her with porridge made from full fat goats milk and now she's a fatty! :))

Also my little one who wasn't gaining wight now is thanks to nutmegs advice :)

The chance of survival drops considerably for a pig who weighs 2 ounces, 60 gm, or less at birth. You can only do your best. She is better, obviously, feeding from her mother, if possible.

i have been taking mum out every 3 hrs and putting baby on to her teat which the baby takes very well and giving little bits of goats milk in between the baby is taking it very well off a small teat kitten bottle it tries to climb up the bottle to get to the teat :))spoke to a lady last night over the phone who runs a rat rescue but went on a course with cambridge cavy trust and she gave me great advice about winding them after bottle feeds to stop bloat,,and told me what to use in my boars water who was neutered 2 wks ago who now has abscesses and is on antibiotics for this..she told me she had to hand feed 11 newborn rats has there mummy died.i hope the baby guinea will be ok I'm trying my hardest with him/her and have decided to keep it if it pulls through fingers crossed but its so much better than the night before last it can walk around now

just weighed the weak baby and he/she is now 46grams was 43 last night going weigh tonight again same time i did last night then every night after

That your mini is not losing weight at that stage is a very good and encouraging sign!

Go on! Successful "bottle babies" are always special, becuase you can't help but invest so much time and emotions in them, so I can understand why the little one will never leave you!

what we have to do every 3hrs now

she is such a good mummy and just puts up with it

AWW Bless her. Thank goodness that little baby has you to see to them and help them like you are. Dedication!

Well done and keep up the good work.
