Weak Anus?! Please advise, can't sleep!

I’ve never had a piggy “snipped” and out of 11 boars only 1 ever had impaction.

Thank you so much, @Ramia @AidaB And @weepweeps 🤍 just did Serj's nighttime medication and evacuation and, while still not perfect, we did 100 times better than any other attempt before! Popped him in his wee sack, talked to him the whole time, stood him up slightly and went slowly without messing about - could not be happier right now! 😃😃😃

What a wonderful community, thank you all so much for taking the time to help us 😘🤍

Morning I hope you've had a settled sleep
The photos of your boys are wonderful sending healing vibes and strength to you all 💐

Hi, everyone!

Sorry for the throwback but this has taken a bit of a turn and I am unsure if I should continue on this thread or make a new one 🙄

My Serj was at the vet last week and she has said she is quite happy with his large testicles but believes one is being pushed out by something internal. Whilst we were there, Serj peed 5 times (different person every time, thanks for that one son 👍) so we did an ultrasound to check for any abnormalities. Luckily, no bladder stones but even after all the weeing his bladder wasn't empty! Got a week of antibiotics and continuing on the same meds as before, we have another appointment on Wednesday to check his progress. HOWEVER...

I am sure you have all established I am some mad guinea pig mammy at this stage but couldn't shake the thought that there was something else. Did my own research, had a wee warm cloth to hand and low and behold - sperm rods. 3 of them. All straight, all removed easily. 2 days later, exact same situation. I know bladder infections and sperm rods can be connected but wondering if anyone has any experience of this? Super concerned if it is a reoccurring situation and I have flipping missed it 😔

K xx

Good work discovering the sperm rods, Serj must feel better with them out. I haven't had this situation so far, touch wood. I hope your piggy feels better soon ❤

You are not mad, we are all however mad about guinea pigs!

Well done on finding & removing the sperm rods. Hopefully your boy feels comfier now.

Our Loki 🌈 pig, was an excellent producer of sperm rods, and we had to check him over( much to his disgust) every few days.
He never had a bladder infection, so I don’t have any advice sorry.

I hope the antibiotics help.

Thank you, Aida! You have been a wee angel 😇 can I ask if that was something your Loki had lifelong?

After several bladder "infections" my Sir George was diagnosed with sterile cystitis. Many of our bladder prone piggies get daily doses of Johnsons 4 joints as it seems to help. Most of them love it too.
My only experience of sperms rods though was when Sir George politely handed me one during lap time 😳

Loki 🌈lived with us for about a year, before he became poorly.
( He was rescued from horrible circumstances.)

The whole time he lived with us I had to help him remove sperm rods. He’s the only piggy in 5 years of guinea pigs living with us or passing through as visitors/ fosters who I have had to help on an almost daily basis sometimes.

Here’s a screenshot of a previous post of mine. Sorry it was the quickest way to find a photo for you.
