Junior Guinea Pig
I'm hoping for some wise words on this one. Gilbert and Alfie have been together since Friday and they seem to be getting on fine. Gilbert still asserts his authority from time to time but they happily cuddle up together, follow each other, eat together (most of the time) and today they have been sniffing each other's bottoms. In the three weeks I've had Gilbert I've never smelt anything on him, but today when I took them out of their cage they both smelled of urine. Now it's as though the whole apartment smells of wee and I can't get the smell out of my nose, even when I was out at my evening class tonight.
Should I be worried or is this a normal territorial thing they're doing? I saw Alfie (the new one I got on Friday) leave a little wee trail on the sofa earlier - even if he were incontinent surely it wouldn't smell this bad? He's only a baby. Or does that have nothing to do with it and it's Gilbert weeing to mark his territory?
