Wee Wee Pads... Help

I just bought some puppy wee wee pads to use as bedding for my guinea pigs because we have no hay available right now at any of our local pet stores!:mal: Any way, can someone please advise me on how to use them as i have never tried this before?

BTW i meant to say we have no available hay or paper based bedding available on island!
 
My cage is lined with puppy pads, then a towel then a fleece blanket. Hope you manage to get some hay soon x
 
My pigs like to nibble the edges of the pads so might be an idea to put something on top, even just a towel might do them for now
 
Like @Harry&lloyd I have a piggy who likes to chew anything plastic including the puppy pads, so might not be a good idea to use them alone. Towels on top in a pinch suffice. I once had to do this overnight & it was fine.
 
i would not use them on their own. My piggies will chew them like crazy if they could. They chew anything plastic. Are your piggies outside or inside? You do need some sort of substrate in the pads or they will chew.
good luck finding hay! Do they have eating hay? ...if not they really need some hay as they will get very poorly without hay to eat. X

My pigs are inside because we have too many wild dogs running about as well as it is seriously HOT here in Cayman. Luckly i purchased an extra bag of timothy hay my last trip to the pet store however, i'm hoping what i have will last the next 2 weeks when the new shipment comes in. I just purchased some towels on my lunch hour to place over the wee pads so everything should be okay. If this works out i may move from my usual paper based beeding to fleece/towels and wee pads. I was just persistant on the paper beeding because they love to burrow themselves under it BUT i just got in my shipment of tunnels/cuddel-cups and a ton of fun piggie stuff from amazon so they don't really need the bedding to hide under anymore! SO EXCITED...i may be more excited than they are LOL!!
 
I was just thinking about what you said about no hay available. Hay should make up 80% of your guinea pigs diet & is the main food that keeps their teeth ground down. Is it possible to get some from a local stable. Any hay is better than no hay.

A good tip I learnt last summer when we had a bit of a heatwave, probably nothing like you get. Get some 2ltr plastic bottle like you'de buy coke or pepsi in & almost fill with water leaving a little space for expansion. put these in the freezer overnight then wrap with a towel & put in with your piggies.You then just remove a re-freeze each night. You can also put ceramic tiles on their floor which are also good for them to lie on and keep cool.
 
I haven't checked, but i'd say that our agriculture farm would most likely have some hay that i could get. I usually just buy the packaged timothy and alfalfa hay for them. Is this okay? And what exactly should i ask for when requesting fresh hay?

I plan to use either puppy pads or incontinence pads (been told they are very absorbent) to line my piggies pens and bedroom areas when I move into cage liners. I shall trial both to see which can cope the best :P
