Well we lost our beautiful guinea pig Ruby on Friday, don't know why she was fine in the morning, then went to clean them out at lunch time and found her dead:(
Was a real shock and had 2 very upset children after school and concerned Dorothy was feeling lonely have given her a lot more fuss than normal.
I thought long term we will need to get her another friend but wasn't really ready to accept it, until I went and had a look at our local RSPC centre Yesturday, thought no harm in looking and will find out the details we need if we want to adopt one later on. When I fell in love with this gorgeous neutered Abyssinian boy.
Have just had a call saying we can have him. :))
So before we pick him up at the weekend is there anything anyone can suggest for introducing them both?

Oh no! I am so sorry you lost Ruby. With bonding your new boy do it in a neutral area and have some food to distract them from any arguing. Read the bonding sticky on here too. Good luck.

Really sorry to read of your loss. Huge hugs to you at this sad time. That must have been an awful shock to happen without any warning.

RIP Ruby

Oh poor Ruby and poor you. I lost my beautiful hamster the same way last week, one minute absolutely fine, next, she had died in her sleep. It is a terrible shock and I can truly sympathise, especially trying to explain to your children. Very sad.

Its great you have found a friend though, looking forward to hearing how things progress.

Sleep well Ruby x

R.I.P Ruby

Sorry to hear of your loss of ruby so sad I'm sure the new piggy will settle in ok put them on netural ground a room they not been in before i put a towel in bath and put my bailey in first then introduced max they were fine bit of waving of bum and rumbling but no teeth chatter which was ** it does all depend on personality of piggys i have been told male and female works beter than boars being together hope this helps

First of all I'm really sorry for your loss. It's much easier when you introduce a male & female than 2 males or even 2 females. Neutral territory under supervision & have the cage or run thoroughly cleaned out before you put them in it together. I always find that a pile of fresh grass or veggies in the centre is a good way to introduce them. Good Luck with the bonding
