Hi There!

I have had my girls (Peaches and Nutmeg) now for around 5 months now, they are both healthy, happy and totally spoiled! However I have been reading that its good practice to check over your piggies once a week and also weigh them, I have started to wight them, but when I had a look over the last night I realised I had no idea what to look for! Other than obvious injuries!

Any advice on what type of things you then to look at when you check over your pigs. I have noted on Peach that her grease glad is very visible (but that could just be because she is cream!)

Thanks everyone :)

What little beauties you have there, such big bright eyes.
I thought there was a sticky thread on this but I can't find it. I'm not qualified to give you advise on this but I am sure someone who is will be along shortly. I just wanted to say what lovely piggies you have. :luv:

You basically look for any changes in the body. The first step is getting to know the body.
You may find this thread here very helpful for that: Guinea pig body quirks

Weighing is the other half of the weekly check-up. if you can, always do it at the same time in the feeding cycle as weight can vary for up to 40g over 24 hours between a full/empty tummy and bladder. Just before their dinner is a good time to achieve a comparable result.
