I've just come home from my Boyfriend's, I only went for the night and when I left yesterday oliver was fine. i came home this evening to find him wih a pusy sore on his nose. It kind of looks like a cold sore, but surely they can't be zoonotic and pass form human to animals?

i am going to try and book a vets appointment for tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it could be?

I know its not very clear but it was the best I could get without getting him all worked up...

Thanks,
A very worried Jess :(

Aww I am really sorry to hear this. I hope it is nothing and it heals soon.

Don't worry about it. I'm sure it's nothing too serious. He seems his ownself? Your vet will know what it is. I've never come across it though :)p

Bumping this, really want to know what it is :( so worried for my boy!

I don't know what it is, the vet should know though. Try reading about guinea pig noses on guinealynx for now.

Love do you think he's bumped his nose? It looks sort of like a small abrasion/cut ?
To be safe i'd see the vets, if you have any fungal cream maybe you could use that?
I'm sure some of our lovely members will advise soon :)

HEALING WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKS FOR YOU OLIVER XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Sorry lovey, i have nothing useful to add but just wanted to send Oliver some healing vibes and say i hope it is nothing to worry about, big hugs x

Hope all goes well at the vets. Any news? x

Sorry I don't know either! I hope you find out what's wrong soon!? Good luck at the vets.

Thanks everyone x>>

Sorry for leaving you all on tenterhooks, I was told to bring Oliver in the next day when I phoned up but i was not happy with this, thw worry of it being fungal and spreading to my girls spurred me on. So I personally popped into the vets and luckily for me the Receptionist/Head vet nurse was in who i'm quite chatty with she told me to being Oliver int hat night and she'd put in a word with the vet to see me.

So I had him back at the vets within ten minutes! :))

The vet had a good look at the nose and said that due to the pus it was sunlikely to be fungal, he said it looked like a trauma to the nose that had gotten some bacteria in it. He has given me some antibitiotical cream to apply twic daily to the area for the next ten days.

Thank goodness for that! He hasnt ruled out it being Fungal though, especially if it lasts for more than ten days. if it does I'm to take him back but he said it is extremly unlikely to be fungal. hooray! xx>>>

That is a relief. He must have banged his nose somehow. I hope it heals soon.
