Hi all
Just noticed this morning my 9 year old boar has a weepy eye. He’s currently on Metacam for a tooth issue which is under control.
He’s eating fine and socialising but I’ve cleaned his eye with warm water so it looks worse in the picture. I can’t see any obvious gay in the eye.
I’m due to go to the car &rabbit clinic on Saturday 2nd June for a check up . Any suggestions I can do in the meantime ?9820EB64-4B2E-4086-A96E-D104A5482214.webp.

@Rubys cafe You have to be careful with eyes as they can get a lot worse quickly. I'd keep a very close watch on it as it could be a piece of hay in there, and if it gets any worse you'll need to go to the vet.

I would recommend to keep a close eye on your weepy eye in case it is a non-ulcerating hay poke or something stuck under a lid. If necessary see a 24 hour service during their cheaper daytime opening hours to have the eye checked as eye injuries can deteriorate very quickly.

If there is no injury, I would speak to the Cat&Rabbit on Tuesday and see whether they think it may be related to the dental issues or could be caused by a draft.

Yes I’m going to call my local vet in the morning and see if he can get seen .
He seems chirpy and eating ok. The eye isn’t on the side of his tooth that was removed

I called the emergency vet and had a chat with her. She suggested bathing the eye and as long as he’s eating and not closing the eye , I can take him in tomorrow for a check . Hes been eating and pop corning .
