Hi! So quick update on Pippin, I moved down to Florida to attend graduate school. Pippin did great in the car, but of course, he was stressed. BUT the best news is that I got him a cagemate. Everyone meet Aragorn. Yesterday they went to the vet and both are healthy! Pippin got an ear infection this past summer, so I wanted to make sure that the drive down here didn't give another one.

My only thing is that Aragorn is 709 g and I was wondering what is the age range of that weight. Like how a 5-month guinea pig should weigh at least 800 g.
I think Aragorn is 3 months old judging by how small he is. I did get him from a neighbor, but they didn't know how old he was. The vet didn't mention it either, we were more focused on making sure Aragorn was healthy so the boys could start introductions. They bonded really well and right away (I've been keeping them in separate cages, but side by side so they've already gotten used to the other. I think Pippin is enjoying the big brother life lol *Note: They're cage is bigger! But course they like to hang out in this corner. I don't want someone to start yelling at me about cage size. I did research before I decided to try and find another boar.*

Hi!

Your boy is a good weight for his age. Please forget about weight charts - they are useless as the weight range in guinea pigs is far too wide to accommodate all perfectly healthy piggies. Far more important than their actual weight is whether they are a healthy weight for their actual size ('heft') and are healthy in themselves.

Please take the time to read our weight guide. It explains how weight changes throughout a normal life time, where to feel for the heft and what to look out for during the weekly weigh-in in combination with a body onceover health check: Weight - Monitoring and Management
