Weight Help!

Hi everyone it's just me again, I was wondering if anyone could help me here?

I've had Stan for around 2 weeks now got him last Thursday, on the 29th, when I got him he weighed in at 800g. I weighed him again on the 5th and he was 825g which I thought was good considering he had just got used to his new home and everything, but now he's around the same weight? Or maybe less around 810g.

Does anyone have any advice? Is this normal for a male guinea? He's currently 5/6 months. Or does anyone have any food advice or what he is ment to be? Thank you!

He’s thinner than my piggies I’m no expert but if I remember correctly fully grown make guinea pigs way around 1000 grams I have three pigs around your pigs age last time I weighed them they were
916 grams
950 grams
946 grams
I have to say that was a large weight drop ( I think) in only a week or two I would maybe consider taking him to the vet again I’m not a expert I would suggest waiting for a expert to answer

I would say don't worry it's only if piggies lose 50g or more than that you need to find out why. (To the vet)
Make sure you weigh the same time everyday. On the same scales.

That is not much of a weight drop as long as he has a good diet then he should be fine Chippy my boar was about 800g when he was about a year but he is now 900g even with a good diet I think he is just a small boar.

That's fine, so long as it doesn't carry on on a downward trend. A full bladder/tummy can make 30g of a difference. One of my year old piggies is still under 800g, and he's top pig. Of my 5, my biggest is 1030ish, two 900 to 980, one just under 900 and the bossy smout at around 780g. They all go up and down by anything up to 25g each week, so I wouldn't worry about a 15g loss if I were you.

Chicco is about 14months, and his weight has been pretty stable at just below 800 for a couple of months at least. I don't see him getting much bigger, but what he lacks in stature, he makes up for in personality.....if you can call constant rumblestrutting personality. Lol

My boar Dennis's weight can fluctuate between 850g and 940g within a few weeks. It always has done and he is perfectly healthy. On Monday he weighed in at his heaviest ever of 945g. What is more important is the heft. Have a read of this thread:-

Hi! That is a good weight for his age and a piggy that is past the first fast growth phase (4-6 month, depending on how quickly they are growing).

The growth rate is very individual and once you are past 4 months, it is no longer a relatively steady weight gain. Guinea pigs that have had a very quick first growth rate will stop sooner than piggies that have been growing more slowly; they will grow more steadily for longer until they come closer to the adult weight range, which your boy has done.
The weight range in guinea pigs at all ages can differ widely, so any weight charts are not worth the paper.
My own youngsters are currently a similar age and weight.
