I weigh my boys weekly and keep their weight chart on the fridge so we can keep track of any changes. I've just finished their weekly weigh-in and I can see that Frankie, who is my chunkiest boar, has lost 40g since last week. Since he has been fully grown his weight has always been above 1200g - usually around 1230-40g. Last week he was 1240g, tonight he is 1197g. This is the lightest that he has been in a long time (he's around 16 months old).

Should I be concerned? Is this range of weight loss normal? He's eating his dinner now and is hoovering it up like usual. I've had a 'dental' piggy so I know the signs of teeth problems, and he's not showing any of them. He seems 100% normal in himself. I'll weigh him again tomorrow but I just wondered what your thoughts were on this.

Hi :)
Just keep an eye on his weight. If he loses any more then maybe you should get him checked out. Does he look thinner? xx

Just keep an eye on it 40g could be a big wee etc.... Often weight can fluctuate by 20-40g a weigh - It's trends you look for, like continually losing weight on several weighs. So Say if he loses anither 40g next weigh then i'd be thinking something may be amiss. Good idea to keep a close eye on Frankie, hope all is well with him

No, I think he looks much the same as usual - his bum is just as big, haha!

That's reassuring, thanks :) I'll weigh him for the next few days and hopefully he won't lose any more

60 grams and I tend to visit the vet, as sportsbilly mentioned it tends to be gradual trends or huge amounts of weight in quite literally days.

Would that be Astro?! Cosmos is doing well too!

At last night's weigh-in my Marley was 1079g, Jerry was 1140g and Frankie was 1220g :)

Yup, Astro our rescue boar, dont know his age but I'm guessing about 16 months as he as gone from 1153 on 12/6 when we had him to his current 1374 gms. Cosmos is now 31 weeks old ( 495 gms when we had her on 12/6 ) , Twinkle is about 45 weeks old ( 423 gms when we had her on 26/2 ) and Star is now 3 years old.

I don't know much about piggie boys, we've got 4 girls & we weigh them every week unless they have a loss of more than 60 grams then weigh them 2 days later. So far everytime one of them has lost over 60 grams they've put weight on 2 days later. If they lost more weight in the next 2 days I'd be calling the vet.
