I noticed this morning that baby pig looked a bit slimmer(she’s nearly 4)I’ve weighed her and she’s 1,241 grams.I should do the weekly weighing but don’t.I think last time I weighed her she was about 1,400 grams.Could it be now she’s getting older that her weight is decreasing? She still seems her normal self and is still seems to be a pig when it comes to food.

hello,

all my piggies when they got older (5ish) started to lose weight. x

It depends on how fast she is losing it. My boy is slowly getting lighter (my very old girl is like a hoover and only loses weight when ill) but it is very gradual - 100g over about 18 months. I would suggest daily readings for a while then moving to weekly to gauge how quickly its happening.

Ditto!

That being said, I'd be concerned by such a sudden and significant weight loss - this is 160 grams. If this were me, I'd pop her to the vet just in case and to check her teeth and overall health.

Thanks all, I did think maybe she’d gradually lost it but I see her everyday so I’d hope I’ve have noticed it.Ill weigh her everyday for a few days and if she’s lost anymore then I’ll definitely be taking her to the vets.

I weighed her this morning and she’s 1210 grams.I know 30g can be the difference between a full bladder so I’m hoping that’s all it was.Shes got a healthy appetite still.

the 1400g weight can you remeber when that was?

a healthy appetite is good :)

This could be totally normal as the body gets older weight starts to decrese. But to be totally sure i would consult a vet.
Best of luck!
